These students with different empirical backgrounds all study computer literacy, with the purpose of acquiring general information processing capability on the word processor and with the Internet, as well as gaining knowledge in data science and skills in statistical computation. While it is necessary to improve the ability of the advanced students, it is equally important to prevent producing those who have a negative impression of the personal computer and consequently try to avoid using this helpful academic tool.\nAdministering questionnaires at the beginning and the end of the Freshman year, I found that the students with insufficient experiences in the computer in their high school years made progress in university in their understanding and manipulation of the computer. Students who entered university without any experience were found to have caught up after a year's study with students with former experiences.
