For our analysis, we used questionnaires executed at the start and end of the academic year as well as results of the year-end school examinations. At Toyo Eiwa University, a class in information literacy has been introduced for first-year students, and all students must complete the class. However, there are students who do not understand the operation of computers at all and students who understand in detail. Accordingly, there are differences in student ability and skill. This paper analyzes the problem and considers whether it is necessary to teach the information literacy program by establishing classes according to ability. When the results of the self-evaluation questionnaires and the year-end school examinations are analyzed, it has been understood that there is no big difference in the information-use ability of students based on differences in experience before taking the class.
